Jason and the Scorchers

Jason Ringenberg was raised on a hog farm in northern Illinois. Ringenburg, fresh out of college in 1981, came storming into Nashville looking for a "rock n' roll wild band" and found the Scorchers, three Nashville upstarts who had punk-rock leanings. As the band roared into the eighties, their sound was described as "TNT From Tennessee and "Merle Haggard meets the Ramones."

From 1982 to 1985 Jason and the Scorchers were one of the best live bands ever. EMI signed them in 1984 and in 1985 released their first full length album "Lost and Found". For some reason EMI didn't "get it" and tried to turn the Scorchers into a radio friendly band, without really getting behind them. Their last release for EMI was "Still Standing" in 1986. Through the years Jason and the Scorchers have put out albums on different labels and it has always made me scratch my head how come they never got really big. The music really rocks and some of their licks can put heavy metal bands to shame. Essential Jason and the Scorchers, Volume 1-Are you Ready for the Country? is an absolute must have album for any fan of rock n roll and this is where you can find today's song.
