Today in Music History:

In 1975, Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple to form his own group Rainbow.

homercat kissThe first day of summer eh? Couldn't tell it around here. The island has been positively chilly this year. Yet homercat keeps getting busier and busier which is a sure sign of summer. Thus not a whole lot of extra time for any in depth musical essays. Instead I thought it would be a good day for some fun music. Just no brainer type of hits your funny bone type of music. Also as a bonus these tunes may be unfamiliar to most.

Reminiscent of DEVO, Portland Oregon's, The Punk Group, takes humour to a whole new level. I intend to do a future post about these guys. The first time I heard these guys I nearly blew a gasket. If you like your music politically incorrect then the Punk Group is for you.

From an obscure disc I picked up years ago called the Copulation Compilation. As you may guess from the title of the CD, it was a collection of songs not for the prudish. Great raunchy stuff and this track is one of my faves from that disc.

As I've stated many times before, not a rap fan. But who could resist the Fat Boys. The human beatbox cracks me up.

Finally we'll top things off with a dose of Mojo. Nobody does it better than Mojo Nixon and like the Dead Milkmen said, "If you don't know Mojo Nixon, then your store could use some fixin'."
