The Undertones are an Irish punk rock/power pop band formed in Derry in 1975. The original line-up released four studio albums — The Undertones (1979), Hypnotised (1980), Positive Touch (1981) and The Sin of Pride (1983) — before disbanding in 1983. This is the self titled 1979 debut album by The Undertones. In 2000 Q magazine placed it at number 90 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. It was also listed in "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" which was selected and written by 90 leading international critics. One may wonder sometimes, what makes a perfect album? There are many factors that make a perfect album and I won't go into all them here but if one wonders what a perfect album sounds like their 1979 debut is one of those perfect albums that is a good place to start. Brilliant 2 minute three chord pop songs abound.
